Proving God's existence.....aka Anselm's rant.

hey motherfucker hey hi, how you dern?

anyways, i have a new endeavor.

i learned about Anselm's rant aka Anselm's deductive reasoning on god's existence.

how interesting. well.

his reasoning goes as so..

That which is greater than anything that can be thought, does not exist.

That which is greater than anything that can be thought, can exist in our understanding (mind)

That which is greater than anything that can be thought, can at least exist in reality

If that which is greater than anything that can be thought, does not exist, but something similar but (not the one that exists in the mind) could have the possibility of existing in reality. aka a copy.

We can them eliminate the first assumption....

and settle with that which is greater than anything that can be thought, can exist in reality.

therefore, That which is greater than anything that can be thought does exists = God exists.

OBVIOUSLY

this is faulty...... a proposed deductive form of (i forget) but basically.... ex.

a argument is proposed as thus.

a negation is provided to prove to opposite. for ex. i want to prove the cup is on the table...

The cup is not on the table.

-----contradiction argument goes here-----

Conclusion: The cup is on the table.

where's anselm screwed up is the direct contradiction of his first assumption to his conclusion. It's not a contradiction. it's called jumping around the bush.

Anyways.

that being said.

I was told today that, these logical arguments and theories are being made for the longest time. (anselm was a priest from like 1500-1600.....don't quote me) and NONE have been able to prove His existence. So.....can it be

Proving God's existence=That which is greater than anything that can be thought
